French authorities this morning have two suspects — believed to the brothers who carried out Wed.’s terrorist attack — in a small industrial town — Dammartin en Goele — about 30 miles northeast of Paris and in the vicinity of Charles de Gaulle Airport. Aircraft have been warned to stay away from the area, though, the airport remains open — two runways for arriving aircraft have been closed to all but official French security services. The two suspects are surrounded near an industrial zone; after taking at least one individual hostage. Earlier reports that another hostage had been killed in the vicinity has been denied by French authorities. Five French helicopters as well as 1,000 French law enforcement, military and others have been deployed to the area; and, more personnel continue to arrive on the scene, Let’s hope the French can bring this incident to a successful conclusion and that at least one of the men is captured alive — so that we might learn much more about their connections to al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, where this is a single incident; or, part of a larger conspiracy, etc. But taking these guys into custody may be a remote possibility — but, let’s hope that are able to do so. The two suspects were traced to the location after stealing/hijacking a car and taking at least one civilian hostage.
